Just out of interest is anyone else getting an extra (free) day off work in recognition of the Queen's birthday?
We get one every year - not necessarily on her birthday - I've got a nice long weekend looming.

I don't get an extra day, but still a long w/e though, ....ice-cream will enter the picture for us somewhere I'm sure.

In Canada its hilarious. We still get off Queen Victoria's Birthday. It hit the statute books way way back, and as everyone likes a day off, no one has bothered moving it...

I'm revising for finals so no days off for me. Or you could say I'm a student so every day is a day off! At least the dissertation is in.

TheBoy - yup we get the May Day bank holiday but also get an extra day added on.
D34D - yup we get paid 365 whether we are working or not.
Foilwoman - Our Queen. It's sort of traditional that the army gives you a day off when it's her birthday. I think some local government employees get the day off as well.
Rob - if the dissertation is in they it'll be time for a 'real' job soon!

No extra days, but I did get to add 20 minutes to my commute because of the added security when she went walkabout on her actual birthday.
So actually, I LOSE free time.

They get the day off for the Queens birthday in Australia and i know that staff in british embassys get the day off too.
Government office bod - and we get to take it anytime if your boss isn't a tool.
